CJ프레시웨이가 연말을 맞아 밀알복지재단의 ‘굿윌스토어’에 재사용 가능한 임직원 물품을 4년 연속 기증했다. 올해는 서울 본사와 광역 물류센터를 포함한 전국 8개 사업장에서 임직원들이 모은 900여 점의 물품이 전달됐다.
지난 27일, CJ프레시웨이는 서울 마포구 본사에서 임직원들이 한 달 간 모은 재사용 물품을 굿윌스토어에 전달하는 행사를 가졌다. 굿윌스토어는 장애인 직업재활시설로, 기증받은 물품을 판매해 얻은 수익금으로 발달 장애인 직원의 급여를 지원하고 안정적인 일자리를 제공하며, 자원 순환을 통해 환경 보호에도 기여하고 있다. 현재 전국 35곳의 굿윌스토어 매장에서 440여 명의 장애인이 근무하고 있다.
CJ프레시웨이가 기증한 의류, 생활·문화용품, 소형 가전 등은 전국 굿윌스토어 매장에서 상품화 과정을 거쳐 판매될 예정이다. 굿윌스토어는 이번 기증을 통해 장애인 직원 2명의 월 급여를 지원할 수 있을 것으로 예상하고 있으며, 약 2톤의 온실가스와 2,440킬로리터의 물 사용을 절감하는 효과를 기대하고 있다. 이는 30년생 소나무 약 290그루를 심는 것과 같은 환경적 기여로 평가된다.
CJ프레시웨이 관계자는 “2021년부터 굿윌스토어와 협력하여 재사용 물품 기증 규모를 매년 확대하고, 장애인 일자리 창출과 환경 보호에 기여하는 사회공헌활동을 실천하고 있다”며, “앞으로도 임직원의 적극적인 참여를 통해 장애인 등 취약계층과 함께 성장하는 지역사회를 만들어 나갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.
한편, CJ프레시웨이는 기업의 사회적 책임 이행과 지역사회 소통 협력체계를 강화하기 위해 '지역사회 참여 정책'을 수립하고 다양한 ESG 경영을 펼치고 있다. 이해관계자와 협력하여 지역 어린이집 대상 종이팩 자원순환 체계를 운영하고, 푸드서비스 사업장에서 배출되는 종이 쌀 포대를 업사이클링하는 등 친환경 유통 환경을 조성하고 있다. 또한, 사회복지시설의 급식 조리실에 식품위생 및 산업 안전 솔루션을 무상 제공하는 사회공헌활동 ‘동행주방’을 운영하고 있다.
CJ Freshway Donates Employee Items to Goodwill Store for 4th Year
CJ Freshway has donated reusable employee items to the Milleal Welfare Foundation's Goodwill Store for the fourth consecutive year. This year, more than 900 items collected by employees at eight worksites nationwide, including the company's Seoul headquarters and distribution centres, were delivered.
On the 27th, CJ Freshway held an event at its headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to deliver reusable items collected by employees for a month to the Goodwill Store. Goodwill Stores are vocational rehabilitation facilities for people with disabilities, and the proceeds from the sale of donated items support the salaries of employees with developmental disabilities, provide stable jobs, and contribute to environmental protection through resource recycling. Currently, more than 440 people with disabilities work at 35 Goodwill Stores nationwide.
The clothing, household and cultural items, and small appliances donated by CJ Freshway will be sold through the merchandising process at Goodwill stores nationwide. The Goodwill Store expects the donation to support the monthly salaries of two employees with disabilities, and is expected to save approximately 2 tonnes of greenhouse gases and 2,440 kilolitres of water. This is estimated to be the environmental contribution equivalent to planting about 290 30-year-old pine trees.
A CJ Freshway representative said, ‘Since 2021, we have been working with Goodwill Stores to expand the scale of donations of reusable items every year, and implement social contribution activities that contribute to creating jobs for the disabled and protecting the environment.’ ‘We will continue to create a community that grows together with the disabled and other vulnerable groups through the active participation of our employees,’ he added.
Meanwhile, CJ Freshway has established a ‘Community Participation Policy’ to strengthen its corporate social responsibility and community communication partnerships, and is implementing various ESG management practices. In cooperation with stakeholders, it operates a recycling system for paper cartons for local daycare centres and upcycles paper rice bags from food service businesses to create an eco-friendly distribution environment. In addition, the company operates the ‘Together Kitchen’ social contribution programme, which provides free food hygiene and occupational safety solutions to the kitchens of social welfare facilities.
