[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 2일부터 ‘어린이·청소년 시내버스 100원 요금제’를 시행한다고 밝혔다.
어린이·청소년 시내버스 100원 요금제는 청소년 무상 승차 제도의 일환으로 양육가정의 교통비 부담 경감, 대중교통 이용 촉진, 지역경제 활성화 등에 기여하기 위해 마련됐다.
진주시는 당초 청소년 무료 승차제도를 추진했지만, 이용횟수나 이용한도에 제한을 둬야 한다는 보건복지부 협의에 따라 100원 요금제를 시행하게 됐다.
요금제 적용 대상은 6세부터 18세까지의 어린이와 청소년이 교통카드를 이용해 시내버스를 이용하는 경우에 어린이·청소년 시내버스 100원 요금제 혜택을 받을 수 있다.
또 기존에는 부모카드를 사용해 어린이나 청소년 요금으로 변경해 결제하는 경우가 있었지만 이번 100원 요금제 시행으로 부모 등 타인카드사용이 불가능하다.
교통카드는 편의점 등에서 선불카드를 구매해 생년월일 등록 후 사용 가능하며, 12세 이상의 경우는 후불식 교통카드를 발급해 사용하는 것도 가능하다.
조규일 진주시장은 “시의 미래인 어린이와 청소년을 지원하는 중요한 정책이다”며“아이들이 대중교통을 편리하게 이용하고, 지역경제에 활력을 불어넣을 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
