쿠덴베르크의 금속활자 발명은 1440년경에 이뤄졌다. 이 금속활자는 종교혁명의 무기가 됐다. 1517년 마르틴 루터는 95개 조항을 내걸고 종교 혁명에 불을 지폈다. 이때는 금속활자에 의한 인쇄술이 발달, 가톨릭의 면죄부 관행 등 부패 내막을 구체적으로 적시(摘示), 대량 전달을 할 수 있는 시대였다. 인쇄술의 발달은 곧 매스미디어(대량전달-Mass media) 시대를 열었고, 종교개혁이 성공할 수 있는 토대가 됐다.
필자는 긴 기간, 매스미디어(대량전달) 업에 종사해왔다. 주간신문 업(業)에만 38년 간 종사<주간종교 3년-선데이서울 1년 기고(연재)-뉴욕 세계신보 5년-토요신문 3년(편집국장)-일요서울 3년(편집국장)-주간현대(28년 발행인)> 했다. 이어지는 인터넷 세상에서 인터넷 신문인 브레이크뉴스에서 22년 째 발행인으로 일해오고 있다.
이 생활을 뒤돌아보면 “혁명의 시대를 살아 왔다”고 자평(自評) 한다.
이 시대는 쿠덴베르크가 발명한 금속활자로 인한 인쇄술의 혁명 이후, 최고점(最高點)의 소통혁명 시대라 할 수 있다.
이 시대의 광폭적인 소통도구인 인터넷은 확실한 대량전달 시대의 문을 활짝 열었다. 국내의 인터넷 신문 숫자만 해도 1만1천500개를 넘어섰다. 유튜브 수는 100만 개를 상회했다. 스마트폰을 이용한 SNS(대인관계망 서비스)=인터넷 저널이 대세가 됐다. 전 세계 사람들 끼리, 순간 소통(疏通)이 가능해졌다.
인류 역사 이후, 현대 사회는 ‘거대한 소통(疏通)혁명의 시대’라 할 수 있다. 이 시대의 매스미디어는 인류를 혁명사회로 이끌어 가고 있다. 워낙 큰 소용돌이여서, 혁명의 목적이 무언지에 대한 확실한 의미(意味)정립이 돼 있지는 않다. 그래도 현대사회는 광폭적인 혁명의 시대이다. 우리는 그런 시대를 살고 있다.
16세기 매스미디어였던 인쇄 매체들은 종교혁명을 가능케 했다. 그 여파로 신앙(信仰)의 자유를 확장시켰다.
21세기 매스미디어인 인터넷 매체들은 일찍이 경험하지 못한 거대한 혁명을 진척(進陟)시키고 있다. 지금의 사회혁명은 '무한대의 언론자유'를 촉발, 만인이 평등한 세상 만들기에 기여하고 있다.
그뿐 아니라 각 나라가 보유한 인공위성은 1만개에 달한다. 우주시대가 개막됐다. 무인 자동차 시대가 열린 것도 인공위성 덕분(德分)이다.

The invention of metal type by Gudenberg took place around 1440. This metal type became a weapon of the religious revolution. In 1517, Martin Luther ignited the religious revolution by posting the 95 theses. At that time, the printing technology using metal type was developed, and it was possible to specifically describe and mass-distribute corruption such as the Catholic practice of indulgences. The development of printing technology soon opened the era of mass media (mass media) and laid the foundation for the success of the religious reformation.
The author has been working in the mass media (mass media) industry for a long time. He has worked in the weekly newspaper industry for 38 years (3 years for Weekly Religion - 1 year as a contributor (serial writer) for Sunday Seoul - 5 years for New York World News - 3 years as editor-in-chief for Saturday News - 3 years as editor-in-chief for Sunday Seoul - 28 years as publisher for Weekly Hyundai). In the continuing Internet world, he has been working as a publisher for 22 years at the Internet newspaper Break News.
Looking back on this life, he says, “I have lived in a revolutionary era.”
This era can be said to be the era of the highest point of communication revolution since the revolution in printing technology due to the metal type invented by Gutenberg.
The Internet, the vast communication tool of this era, has opened the door to an era of reliable mass communication. The number of Internet newspapers in Korea alone has exceeded 11,500. The number of YouTube channels has exceeded 1 million. SNS (Internet networking service) = Internet journals using smartphones have become the trend. Instant communication (疏通) has become possible among people all over the world.
Since the history of mankind, modern society can be said to be the ‘era of the great communication (疏通) revolution’. The mass media of this era is leading mankind to a revolutionary society. Because it is such a huge whirlwind, the purpose of the revolution has not been clearly established. However, modern society is an era of sweeping revolution. We are living in such an era.
The print media, which was the mass media of the 16th century, made the religious revolution possible. As a result, it expanded the freedom of religion (信仰).
The internet media, which is the mass media of the 21st century, is advancing a great revolution that has never been experienced before. The current social revolution is triggering ‘unlimited freedom of the press’ and contributing to creating a world where everyone is equal.
In addition, each country possesses 10,000 artificial satellites. The space age has begun. The era of unmanned cars has also opened thanks to artificial satellites.
