조태열 외교부 장관이 6일 토니 블링컨 미 국무장관과 한·미 외교장괸회담을 갖고 한·미동맹-한·미·일 협력·북한 문제 등 각종 현안 등을 협의했다.
조 장관과 블링컨 장관은 회담 후 외교부 국제회의장에서 공동 기자회견을 가진 가운데 먼저 조 장관은 모두 발언에서 "한국은 항상 미국 국민과 함께 할 것"이라며 "미국의 한국 대외정책 기조는 변함없을 것"이라고 밝혔다.
또 "한·미동맹의 지속 강화 의지를 재확인했다"며 "한·미는 일본과 함께 3국 협력 시대를 열어갈 것"이라고 했다.
이어 "한·미·일 3국 협력을 더 강화해 나가기로 했다"며 "오늘 북한의 탄도미사일 도발을 함께 규탄하고, 북 비핵화를 위한 협력을 지속하기로 했다"고 말했다.
그러면서 "북 도발 가능성에 철저히 대비하고 단호히 대응해 나가기로 했다"며 "국제사회 대북제재 이행도 견인해나가는 중이며 한·미동맹은 양국이 어려운 시간 함께할때 더욱 강력하다"고 했다.
