대통령경호처가 7일 경찰의 박종준 경호처장에 대한 2차 출석 요구 관련해 "박 처장 변호인이 선임 안돼 오늘 출석이 어렵다"고 밝혔다.
경호처는 이날 오전 언론 공지에서 "오늘, 내일 중 변호인을 선임해 (경찰 출석) 일정을 조율 계획"이라며 이같이 전했다. 경찰은 박 처장에게 이날 오전 10시까지 출석해 조사받으라고 통보한 바 있다.
앞서 지난 4일 박 처장은 경찰 출석 요구에 "대통령 경호 업무 관련해 엄중한 시기로 한시도 자리 비울 수 없다"고 밝힌 바 있다.
박 처장은 지난 3일 고위공직자범죄수사처(공수처)의 윤석열 대통령 체포영장 집행을 막아 특수공무집행 방해 혐의로 입건됐다.
지난 3일 경호처는 공수처의 윤 대통령 체포영장 집행 시도 관련해 "법적 근거 없는 무단 침입으로 반드시 책임을 물을 것"이라며 "공수처·국가수사본부가 법적 근거도 없이 경찰 기동대를 동원해 경호구역·군사 기밀 시설을 시설장 허가 없이 출입문을 부수고 심지어 근무자에 부상을 일으키며 무단 침입한 데 대해 매우 유감스럽게 생각한다"며 법적 조치를 예고한 바 있다.
