9일 경주시는 청사 내 대외협력실에서 ㈜일진과 200억 원 규모의 국내 복귀 투자유치 협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이날 주낙영 시장, 이경수 ㈜일진 대표이사, 이남억 경북도 공항투자본부장이 참석한 가운데, 투자유치 협약(MOU)을 체결하고 투자 계획과 협력 방안을 논의했다.
㈜일진은 중국 장쑤성 옌청시 소재 현지 법인 매각으로 확보한 200억 원을 경주시 천북면 제2공장 내 1244㎡ 유휴부지에 투자할 계획이다.
이를 통해 에어 서스펜션 부품 생산라인을 신규로 설치할 예정으로, 약 20명 규모의 신규 고용 창출이 기대된다.
에어 서스펜션은 압축공기를 이용해 진동을 흡수하고 승차감을 높여 주는 고급 차량용 현가장치다.
이번 투자로 ㈜일진은 사출 단품에서 완성품까지 일괄 제조 체계를 갖춰 글로벌 자동차 부품 시장에서 핵심적인 역할을 하게 될 전망이다.
㈜일진은 서울 본사와 2곳의 경주공장 및 연구소를 운영하고 있으며, 미국, 중국, 인도 등에 생산 기지를 둔 글로벌 자동차 부품기업이다.
이경수 ㈜일진 대표이사는 “이번 투자가 경주의 일자리 창출과 지역경제 활성화에 기여하길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 추가 투자와 수주 활동을 통해 지역 사회와 상생하겠다”고 밝혔다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “㈜일진의 투자는 지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣는 중요한 사례”라며 “기업들이 경주를 선택할 수 있도록 기업 친화적인 환경을 조성하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 경주시는 ㈜일진의 국내 복귀를 지원하기 위해 경북도와 KOTRA(대한무역투자진흥공사)와 협력해 행정적·재정적 지원을 아끼지 않을 방침이다.
