윤석열 대통령 변호인단이 12일 "윤 대통령이 오는 14일 헌재 탄핵심판 첫 변론기일엔 직접 출석할 수 없다고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령 수사 변호인단·탄핵심판 대리인단 공보 역할을 맡은 윤갑근 변호사는 이날 오전 "고위공직자범죄수사처(공수처)·경찰 국가수사본부가 윤 대통령에 대한 불법 체포영장 집행을 계속 시도하고 있다'며 "대통령 신변 안전을 담보할 수 없고 불상사가 우려된다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
윤 대통령이 14일 헌재 탄핵심판 첫 변론기일에 직접 출석하며 공수처·경찰 수사팀에 노출될 우려를 고려한 것으로 보인다.
윤 변호사는 "적정시기 대통령이 헌법재판에 출석할 것이나 우선 신변안전·경호문제가 해결돼야 한다'고 덧붙였다.
앞서 헌재는 오는 14일 첫 변론 시작 후 1월 16·21·23일·2월 4일까지 모두 5차례 재판을 열기로 했으나 윤 대통령이 불출석키로 하면서 첫 변론기일은 공전할 가능성이 큰 가운데 오는 16일부터 증거조사 등 본격 절차가 개시될 것으로 보인다.
한편 윤 대통령 변호인단은 이날 변호인 선임계 제출을 위해 공수처를 방문한 가운데 윤 변호사와·배보윤·송진호 변호사가 이름을 올렸다.
