부여군은 지난 13일 의료취약지역에서 주민들의 건강을 위해 진료업무에 힘쓰고 있는 공중보건의사들과의 간담회를 열었다.
이날 간담회에는 박정현 군수와 김옥선 보건소장이 참석했으며, 의과, 치과, 한의과 공중보건의사 18명이 함께했다.
이번 간담회의 주요 목적은 지역 주민들의 건강증진을 위해 애쓰고 있는 공중보건의사들의 노고를 격려하고, 향후 보건사업의 활성화 방안을 논의하기 위함이었다.
현재 부여군에 배치된 공중보건의사는 2023년보다 7명 줄어든 23명으로, 외과 4명과 치과 3명이 결원 상태이다. 특히 면 단위 지역에서는 의과와 치과 공중보건의사들이 보건지소를 순회하며 근무 중이며, 종합병원 파견 근무 등을 통해 부족한 의료 서비스를 대체하고 있어 업무 강도와 피로도가 상당히 높은 상황이다.
박정현 군수는 “공중보건의사들은 군민의 건강을 지키는 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있으며, 그들의 사기 진작과 동기 부여가 무엇보다 중요하다”고 강조하며, 지속적인 지원과 협력의 필요성을 역설했다.
군은 이번 간담회를 계기로 공중보건의사들과의 협력 관계를 더욱 강화하고, 군민 건강을 지키기 위한 보건 정책을 한층 더 활성화할 계획이다. 이를 통해 지역사회 내 보건의료 서비스 수준을 높이고, 의료취약지역의 공백을 최소화할 방침이다.
한편, 박 군수는 지난해 충남도시장군수협의회에서 농어촌 지역의 안정적인 의료서비스 공급을 위한 제언을 했다. 공중보건의사의 의무복무기간 단축, 보수 현실화, 의료인력 선발 예산 지원 등을 내용으로 한 건의는 당시 많은 주목을 받았다.
