임채성 의장, 우원식 국회의장에 지방의회법 제정 건의

임채성 세종시의회 의장이 23일 국회에서 열린 국회의장 오찬 간담회에서 우원식 국회의장에게 지방의회법의 조속한 제정을 건의했다.

이날 간담회는 지방의회 자율권 확대와 자치분권 강화를 위해 ▲ 지방의회법 제정 ▲정책지원 인력 확대를 촉구하기 위해 마련되었으며, 임 의장은 우원식 국회의장에게 건의문을 전달했다.

임채성 의장은 “지방의회는 시민의 삶과 가장 가까운 곳에서 중요한 역할을 하고 있지만 책임과 역할에 비해 권한은 여전히 부족한 실정”이라고 강조했다.

이어 “지방의회법 제정 등 오랫동안 해결되지 못한 과제가 신속히 해결되어, 지방의회가 지방자치를 이끄는 주체로서 독립성과 권한을 온전히 보장받길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

이날 간담회에는 우원식 국회의장과 신정훈 국회 행정안전위원장을 비롯해 임 의장을 포함한 9명의 광역의회 의장이 참석했다.

한편 임 의장은 국회세종의사당, 세종지방법원의 조기 건립과 대통령실 완전 이전 등에 대해서도 국회와 정부 등에 목소리를 낼 예정이다.
