충남 논산시가 1회용품 사용을 줄이기 위한 친환경 정책을 한층 강화한다. 시는 공공기관 내 텀블러 세척기를 도입해 다회용 컵 사용을 활성화하고, 지속 가능한 자원 순환 문화를 정착시킬 계획이다.
논산시는 지난해부터 청사 내 다회용 컵을 도입해 운영해 왔으나, 개인 컵 사용 확대에는 한계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 따라 올해는 텀블러 세척기 도입을 추진하며, 현재 시청 산하 공공기관을 대상으로 수요 조사를 진행 중이다.
지난해 논산시는 1회용품 사용 줄이기 사업을 통해 약 3,616㎏ CO2-eq(이산화탄소 환산량)의 온실가스를 감축했으며, 이는 685그루의 나무를 심는 것과 맞먹는 환경적 효과를 거뒀다.
특히 논산시는 2023년 9월 ‘1회용품 사용 줄이기 조례’를 제정한 이후 각종 지역 축제에서도 다회용기를 적극 도입하며 친환경 정책을 실천해왔다. 연산문화대추축제, 강경젓갈축제, 양촌곶감축제 등 주요 행사에서 1회용품 대신 다회용기 102만 개를 사용해 축제에서 발생하는 폐기물의 50%를 감축하는 성과를 거뒀다.
이러한 노력을 바탕으로 오는 3월 개최되는 논산딸기축제에서도 1회용품 사용 최소화를 목표로 다회용기 활용을 더욱 확대할 계획이다.
