서천교육지원청이 초등학생을 대상으로 한 맞춤형 생태교육자료인 ‘함께 가꾸는 푸른 서천’을 새롭게 개발했다. 이로써 서천군의 풍부한 자연환경을 활용한 생태전환교육이 더욱 체계적이고 실천 중심으로 이루어질 전망이다.
이번 교육자료 개발은 충청남도교육청의 학교환경교육 진흥 조례와 2024 녹색 배움 맑은 서천 환경교육 운영 계획에 근거해 추진됐다. 또한, 2022 개정 교육과정의 학교 자율특색활동과 연계할 수 있도록 설계되어 현장 적용성을 높였다.
자료는 람사르습지, 금강하구, 서천의 산림 등 지역의 주요 생태자원을 중심으로 제작됐으며, 학생들이 직접 체험하고 탐구할 수 있는 활동 중심의 내용으로 구성됐다.

총 12개의 주제로 이루어진 이번 자료는 다양한 시각 자료와 탐구 활동을 포함해 서천의 자연환경을 생동감 있게 전달하는 것이 특징이다.
서천교육지원청은 이를 통해 학생들이 지속 가능한 삶의 가치를 이해하고 환경 보전의 중요성을 몸소 실천할 수 있는 태도를 기르는 것을 주요 목표로 삼고 있다.
김홍집 서천교육지원청 교육장은 “자연과 더불어 살아가는 방법을 배우는 것은 미래 세대의 중요한 과제”라며 “학생들이 지역의 생태적 가치를 이해하고 보호 활동에 적극 참여할 수 있도록 다양한 환경교육 프로그램을 지속적으로 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Seocheon Office of Education has newly developed a customized ecological education material for elementary school students called ‘Green Seocheon Together’.
