논산시(시장 백성현)는 오는 6일 한국유교문화진흥원 대학당에서 ‘돈암서원 유경사의 국가지정문화유산 승격’을 위한 학술포럼을 개최한다.
이번 포럼은 2019년 유네스코 세계유산으로 등재된 돈암서원의 역사적 가치를 재조명하고, 유경사(숭례사)의 문화유산적 중요성을 학술적으로 고찰하기 위해 마련됐다.
행사는 목원대학교 이왕기 명예교수의 기조 발표 ‘돈암서원 유경사의 의미와 가치’를 시작으로, 총 3편의 주제발표가 이어질 예정이다.
발표 내용은 ▲국립중원문화유산연구소 조상순 소장의 ‘돈암서원의 입지 및 배치 특성’, ▲고려대학교 류성룡 교수의 ‘돈암서원 유경사의 건축적 특징’, ▲충남대학교 성봉현 연구교수의 ‘이건 및 보수한 건물의 문화유산적 가치’ 등으로 구성된다.
논산시 관계자는 “이번 포럼을 통해 돈암서원 유경사의 건축사적 가치를 체계적으로 조명하고, 국가지정문화유산 승격의 필요성을 학술적으로 뒷받침할 계획”이라며 “이미 보물로 지정된 응도당과 함께 유경사의 문화재적 가치를 더욱 확고히 할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이번 학술포럼은 돈암서원이 지닌 역사적 위상과 문화유산으로서의 가치를 널리 알리는 중요한 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.

Nonsan City (Mayor Baek Seong-hyeon) will hold an academic forum on the ‘Promotion of Donam Seowon Yugyeongsa to National Cultural Heritage’ at the Daehakdang of the Korea Confucian Culture Promotion Agency on the 6th.
This forum was organized to reexamine the historical value of Donam Seowon, which was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019, and to academically examine the cultural heritage significance of Yugyeongsa (Sungrye Temple).
The event will begin with a keynote speech by Professor Emeritus Lee Wang-gi of Mokwon University titled ‘The Meaning and Value of Donam Seowon Yugyeongsa’, followed by a total of three thematic presentations.

Nonsan City officials stated, “Through this forum, we plan to systematically illuminate the architectural value of Donam Seowon Yugyeongsa and academically support the necessity of upgrading it to a national cultural heritage site,” adding, “We will do our best to further solidify the cultural heritage value of Yugyeongsa along with Eungdodang, which has already been designated as a national treasure.”
This academic forum is expected to be an important opportunity to widely publicize the historical status of Donam Seowon and its value as a cultural heritage site.
