당진시는 11일(음력 1월 14일) 기지시줄다리기 박물관 일원에서 유네스코 인류무형문화유산인 기지시줄다리기와 관련된 2025년 정월대보름 행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
정월대보름은 가족과 함께 새해를 맞이하는 설날과는 달리, 마을 공동체 주민들이 모여 제사를 지내고 한 해의 풍요와 평안을 기원하는 동아시아의 중요한 명절이다.
첫 보름달이 떠오르는 날 저녁, 여신에게 대지의 풍요를 비는 농경 의례가 주류를 이루며, 줄다리기 역시 대보름날 행사로 진행되곤 했다. 이러한 전통을 이어가는 기지시줄다리기 민속축제는 매년 개최되며, 농경문화의 상징적인 축제로 자리잡고 있다.
이번 행사는 오전 11시 총회로 시작되었으며, 당주댁 지신밟기, 볏가릿대 세우기, 서낭제, 장승제 등의 프로그램이 이어졌다. 저녁에는 달집제와 달집태우기가 진행되어 가족의 건강과 마을의 안녕, 농사의 풍요를 기원하는 시간을 가졌다.
