브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 러시아-우크라이나 종전을 위해 적극적인 행동에 돌입했다.
이에 따라 2022년 2월 24일 발발한 러우전쟁은 3년을 앞둔 현재 종전 시계가 빠르게 돌아가기 시작했다.
AP통신에 따르면 트럼프 대통령은 12일(현지시간) 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령과 1시간 30여분간의 전화 통화를 통해 평화 협상을 즉시 시작하겠다는 답을 받아냈다.
러시아 타스통신에 따르면 푸틴 대통령은 전화 통화 직후 "트럼프와 함께 일할 때가 왔다"면서 종전 협상에 응하겠다는 입장을 밝혔다.
푸틴은 트럼프 대통령에게 모스크바로 초청한다는 말도 하는 등 종전 협상 논의는 매끄럽게 진행됐다.
양 정상은 우선 전화로 논의를 진행할 것으로 보이며 사우디아라비아에서 첫 대면 회담을 개최할 가능성도 나온다고 외신은 전했다.
트럼프 대통령은 또한 푸틴 대통령과 종전 협상 개시에 합의한 뒤 바로 볼로디미르 젤렌스키 우크라이나 대통령에게 전화를 걸어 1시간여를 통화했다.
우크라이나 키이우인디펜던트에 따르면 젤렌스키 대통령은 트럼프 대통령과의 통화 내용에 대해 "방금 트럼프 대통령과 통화했다. 긴 대화를 나눴다. 평화를 달성할 가능성과 협력 의지, 드론 및 기타 첨단 제조를 포함한 우리의 기술 역량에 대해 논의했다"고 밝혔다.
