부여군과 광주광역시 서구가 지속 가능한 상생 발전을 위해 협력 관계를 맺었다.
충남 부여군은 지난 12일 광주 서구청에서 양 지역의 우호 증진과 공동 발전을 위한 ‘우호도시 협약’을 체결했다고 13일 밝혔다.
광주 서구는 풍암호수, 운천호수, 금당산 등 자연과 도심이 조화를 이루는 지역으로, 백마강과 부소산을 품은 부여군과 유사한 지리적 특징을 갖고 있다.
또한, 부여가 백제 시대 정치·상업·교통의 중심지였던 것처럼, 광주 서구도 현재 광주의 행정 중심지로 자리하고 있어 여러 공통점을 공유하고 있다.
협약식에 앞서 양측 참석자들은 국립 5·18민주묘지를 방문해 민주화 운동의 희생자들을 기렸으며, 이후 광주 서구의 대표적인 전통시장인 양동시장을 찾아 지역 상인들과 교류하는 시간을 가졌다.

박정현 부여군수는 협약식에서 광주 서구 공무원들을 대상으로 부여군의 대표적인 정책을 소개했다. 골목상권과 지역 경제를 활성화하는 공동체 순환형 지역화폐 ‘굿뜨래페이’, 3년 연속 종합청렴도 1등급 달성, 숨은 독립유공자 발굴 사업, 그리고 K-농업을 선도하는 굿뜨래 농업 국제화 사업 등을 발표하며 부여의 강점을 강조했다.
박 군수는 “부여군은 찬란한 백제의 역사와 문화를 기반으로 문화, 관광, 농업 분야에서 강점을 보유하고 있다”며, “문화예술 인프라가 풍부한 광주 서구와 서로 협력한다면 다양한 분야에서 시너지를 낼 수 있을 것”이라고 기대감을 밝혔다.
김이강 광주 서구청장은 “이번 협약이 단순한 형식적 관계를 넘어 실질적인 협력으로 이어지길 바란다”며, “양 지역 주민들에게 실질적인 도움이 되는 정책 교류와 협업이 이루어지도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.
