스타벅스 코리아(대표 손정현)는 2월 18일 경찰청과 한국사회복지협의회와 함께 경찰관 복지 향상 및 순직, 공상 경찰관 가족 지원을 위한 '스타벅스 Hero 프로그램' 업무 협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약에 따라 스타벅스는 순직 및 공상 경찰관 자녀를 위한 장학금 지원 프로그램을 운영하며, 향후 3년간 총 3억 원의 장학금을 지급할 예정이다. 순직 경찰관 유자녀에게는 1인당 200만 원, 공상 경찰관 자녀에게는 100만 원이 지원되며, 매년 60명의 대상자를 선정할 계획이다.
또한, 스타벅스는 전국 우수 경찰관서 근무자를 대상으로 약 7,100잔의 커피와 푸드를 제공하여 경찰관들의 사기 증진을 지원할 예정이다.
스타벅스는 지난해 국방부와의 협약을 통해 국군장병을 지원하고, 소방 공무원 유자녀를 위한 장학금 지원 협약도 체결한 바 있다.
신동우 스타벅스 전략기획본부장은 "국민의 안전을 위해 힘쓰는 경찰관들에게 보답할 수 있어 영광"이라며, 지속적인 지원 의지를 밝혔다. 경찰청 이호영 직무대행과 한국사회복지협의회 김성이 회장도 협약에 대한 감사의 뜻을 전했다.
Starbucks Signs 'Hero Program' Agreement with the National Police Agency
On February 18, Starbucks Korea (CEO Jung-Hyun Sohn) signed an agreement with the National Police Agency and the Korea Social Welfare Council to launch the Starbucks Hero Program to improve the welfare of police officers and support the families of fallen and martyred police officers.
Under the agreement, Starbucks will operate a scholarship support program for the children of fallen and martyred police officers, and will provide a total of KRW 300 million in scholarships over the next three years. Each child of a fallen police officer will receive KRW 2 million and each child of a fallen police officer will receive KRW 1 million, and 60 recipients will be selected each year.
In addition, Starbucks will provide approximately 7,100 cups of coffee and food to the nation's top police departments to help boost officer morale.
Last year, Starbucks also signed an agreement with the Ministry of National Defense to support members of the Korean Armed Forces and provide scholarships for the children of firefighters.
“We are honored to be able to give back to the police officers who work so hard to keep the public safe,” said Shin Dong-woo, Head of Strategic Planning at Starbucks. Acting Director General Lee Ho-young of the National Police Agency and Chairman Kim Sung-kyung of the Korea Social Welfare Council also expressed their appreciation for the agreement.
