브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= CJ그룹은 지난 19일부터 21일까지 3일간 베트남 닌투언성(省) 땀응마을을 찾아 의료봉사를 하고 학생들에게 교복을 후원했다고 24일 밝혔다.
CJ는 ‘지역사회와 협력, 상생한다’는 그룹 경영철학에 기반하여 한국의 의료봉사단체와 협력해 봉사활동을 이어오고 있다. 이번 의료봉사는 2015년, 2024년에 이은 세 번째 베트남 의료봉사 활동이다.
CJ제일제당 임직원, 원천침례교회 봉사자, 의료진, 약사, 미용사 등으로 이뤄진 약 30명의 봉사단은 사흘간 땀응마을 주민 500여 명을 대상으로 진료 및 처방, 건강 상담을 실시하고 다양한 의약품과 개인 위생교육을 제공했다.
봉사 마지막날인 21일에는 럼선A초등학교에서 교복 전달식이 진행됐다. CJ사회공헌추진단과 땀응마을 및 초등학교 관계자들이 참석한 가운데, CJ올리브영의 기부를 통해 마련한 교복과 책가방 약 500세트를 럼선A초등학교 학생들에게 전달했다.
앞서 CJ는 닌투언성 농촌 자생력 강화와 농업 소득 증대를 위해 KOICA(한국국제협력단)와 함께 고추재배를 지원하는 CSV 사업인 ‘베트남 농촌 가치사슬 강화 사업’을 진행한 바 있다. 지난해 11월에는 이와 관련된 사후지원 프로그램도 시작해 종자와 비료 등 농사에 필요한 물자를 지원하고 협동조합 운영 체계를 강화해 베트남 지역 농민들을 지원할 계획이다.
또한, CJ는 2014년 유네스코와 전략적 협약을 맺고 개발도상국을 중심으로 전 세계 소녀들의 더 나은 삶을 위한 글로벌 ‘소녀교육 캠페인’을 진행하고 있다. 2019년부터 유네스코 베트남본부와 함께 ‘CJ-유네스코 베트남 소녀교육 프로젝트’를 통해 베트남 소수민족 소녀들의 교육 환경 및 인식을 개선하고 고용 기회를 확대하고 있다.
특히, 닌투언성은 베트남에서도 소수민족 비율이 높고 생활환경이 낙후돼 여성들이 충분한 교육을 받기 힘든 지역 중 하나로 꼽히고 있다. 교복 지원은 아동과 여성 교육의 필요성을 강조할 수 있는 지역사회 인식 개선 프로그램의 일환이다.
한편, CJ는 ‘베트남 농촌 가치사슬 강화 사업’의 사회적 가치와 사업적 우수성 등을 인정받아 미국 경제지 포춘이 발표한 ‘2016 세상을 바꿀 주목할 만한 혁신기업(World-Changing Companies to Watch)’에 유일한 아시아 기업으로 선정되기도 했다. 또한, ‘베트남 소녀교육 프로젝트’로 베트남 현지에서 건강한 교육 환경 조성과 여성 교육 인식 개선에 크게 기여했다는 평가를 받으며 2023년 베트남 교육훈련부 장관 표창을 받았다.
CJ 관계자는 “국내뿐 아니라 베트남 지역사회와 상생하기 위해 주민들의 삶의 질을 실질적으로 향상시킬 수 있는 다양한 지원 활동을 펼치고 있다”며 “앞으로도 베트남과 우호적인 관계를 형성하고 그룹의 미래 핵심사업을 지속하기 위해 사회공헌 활동에 앞장서 나가겠다”고 말했다.
