[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 오는 3월 4일부터 4월 17일까지 총 45일간 뒤벼리 급경사지 구간에서 낙석 방지시설 보강을 위한 정비공사를 시행한다고 밝혔다.
이번 공사는 도로 이용자의 안전을 강화하고 낙석 사고를 예방하기 위해 추진되며, 약 10억원의 예산이 투입된다.
시에 따르면 지난해 정밀안전점검 결과, 암반의 풍화와 균열로 낙석 발생 위험이 커졌다는 판단에 따라 대형 사고를 예방하고자 이번 정비공사를 계획했다는 설명했다.
공사 내용은 기존 낙석방지망 위에 기능형 낙석방지망을 설치하여 암반을 안정적으로 고정하는 방식으로 진행된다.
공사 기간 동안 옥봉동 방면 2·3차로 2개 차선이 오전 9시부터 오후 5시까지 부분 통제된다.
이에 따라 시는 교통체증을 완화하고 시민 안전을 확보하기 위해 사인 카와 신호수를 배치하는 등 현장 관리에 만전을 기할 예정이다.
진주시 관계자는 “휴일 작업 등 긴축공정을 통해 공사 기간을 최대한 단축할 계획이다”며 “시민들의 생명 보호를 위한 사업인 만큼 우회도로를 적극적으로 이용해 주길 바란다”고 당부했다.
