최상목 대통령 권한대행 경제부총리 겸 기획재정부 장관이 11일 "트럼프발 미국 우선주의 화살이 우리나라를 정조준하기 시작했다"며 "트럼프 대통령은 최근 미국 의회 연설 등에서 한국 관세는 불공정하다며 전방위 압박을 예고했다"고 전했다.
최 권한대행은 이날 오전 서울 종로구 정부서울청사에서 열린 국무회의 모두 발언에서 "4월 2일 전 세계를 상대로 상호관세 부과를 앞두고 양국 간 협상 시간이 본격 시작됐다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그러면서 "정부는 통상 관계부처 중심으로 미국 상무·무역대표부 등과 긴밀히 소통 중이며 조만간 한·미 실무협의체를 열어 관세 조치 논의와 조선·에너지 협력 강화 등을 위한 구체적 협의에 나선다"며 "정부는 오직 국익만 생각하며 냉철하고 유연하게 대응해 나갈 것이며 한·미 양국이 상호 '윈윈' 할 수 있는 합의점 마련에 모든 힘을 쏟아붓겠다"고 했다.
또 "미국·유럽 '대서양 동맹' 분열이 가시화되며 유럽 각국이 자주 국방 길로 들어서고 있다"며 "유럽연합(EU) 집행위는 자체 방위력 강화를 위해 8000억 유로(약 1229조)를 투입하는 '유럽 재무장 계획'을 발표하기도 했다. K-방산에 기회의 장이 열려 정부·방산업체들이 손잡고 발 빠르게 대응해야 한다"고 했다.
이어 "러·우크라 평화 협상이 진전되면 인프라 투자·재건사업 참여를 위한 각 국간 경쟁도 본격화될 것"이라며 "외교·국토·산업부 등 관계부처는 긴밀한 공조 하에 관련 동향을 면밀히 모니터링해 우리 기업들이 새 성장 동력을 확보할 수 있도록 아낌없는 지원·협력을 당부드린다"고 주문했다.
더불어 "헌법재판소 중요 선고를 앞두고 사회적 갈등 증폭·물리적 충돌 등에 대한 국민들 우려가 커지고 있다"며 "자유민주주의 국가에서 자유롭게 자신 의견을 개진하고 표현하는 건 가장 기본적 권리이나 자유엔 반드시 책임이 따른다"고 했다.
최 대행은 "정부는 합법적이고 평화적 집회·시위는 최대한 보장할 것"이라며 "그러나 불법적이고 폭력적 집회·시위나 공권력에 도전하는 행위에 대해선 어던 관용도 없이 법·원칙에 따라 엄단할 것"이라고 했다.
