중견언론인들의 모임인 한국전문언론인협회(회장/김동성)는 3월 21일자 보도자료에서 홍원경 (주)서광보석 회장을 상임고문으로 위촉했다고 밝혔다.
이 협회는 홍원경 회장에 대해 “헝그리 정신으로 무장하고 오로지 한우물만 파온 보석명인으로서 우리 보석업계의 발전에 크게 기여했다”고 평가했다.
대한민국 최고기록인증원(KBRI) 및 세계기록인증원(SWRI)으로부터 보석 다이야몬드 명인으로 선정된 홍원경 회장은 기부활동을 통해 사회공헌에도 앞장서고 있다.

지금까지 수많은 수상 경력과 표창 이력을 갖고 있는 홍원경 회장은 바이오산업에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 2023년 10월 장영실 국제과학문학상 공로상을 수상했다. 지난 2024년 5월 국회문화체육관광위원회 위원장상을 수상했다. 아시아태평양환경(NGO) 한국본부가 주최한 대회에서 스피치부분 대상을 수상했다. 지난 2024년 6월 국제문화예술제 문화부분에서 통일부장관상을 받았다. 지난 2024년 7월 도전한국인에서 사회공헌대상을 수상했다. 홍원경 회장은 대한민국지식포럼 부회장을 맡고 있다.
