한덕수 대통령 권한대행 국무총리가 26일 "기존 예측 방법·예상을 뛰어넘는 양상으로 산불이 전개되는 만큼 전 기관에서 최악 상황을 가정하고 대응해 줄 것을 거듭 당부드린다"고 밝혔다.
한 권한대행은 이날 오전 서울 종로구 정부서울청사에서 열린 산불 대응 중앙재난안전대책본부 5차 회의에서 "울산·경상도 지역에서 닷새째 지속되는 산불로 유례없는 피해가 발생하고 있다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그러면서 "이런 긴박한 상황에서 추가적 피해를 예방하기 위해 뭣 중요한 건 선제적 대피·철저한 통제·예찰 활동을 강화하는 것"이라며 "다소 불편하더라도 국민 여러분의 적극적 협조를 부탁드린다"고 당부했다.
또 "산불이 확산함에 따라 임시 대피소에서 생활하는 이재민 수도 늘어나고 있다"며 "정부는 이재민들이 조속히 일상으로 복귀할 수 있도록 긴급 구호를 비롯 행·재정적 지원에 최선을 다하겠다"고 했다.
이어 "다행히도 오늘 밤늦게부터 전국적으로 비가 내릴 것으로 예상된다"며 "많은 양은 아닐지라도 이를 계기로 산불이 신속히 진화될 수 있도록 산림·소방·군·경찰·지방자치단체 등 모든 기관이 협력해 총력을 다해주길 당부드린다"고 주문했다.
더불어 "뭣보다 산불 진화·대피 현장에서 추가적 인명 피해가 발생않도록 안전 확보에도 각별히 신경 써 주길 부탁드린다"고 거듭 당부했다.
