브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국민의힘은 26일 경남과 경북 지역에 발생한 대규모 산불에 대해 "희생되신 분들의 명복을 빌며, 완전 진화와 주민 피해 최소화를 위해 모든 대응을 아끼지 않겠다"고 밝혔다.
신동욱 수석대변인은 이날 논평을 통해 "이번 산불로 많은 인명 피해와 재산 피해가 발생한 것에 대해 깊은 우려를 표한다"며 이같이 말했다.
그는 "산림과 수백 채의 주택, 농장이 피해를 입었고, '천년고찰' 고운사와 안동 하회마을 등 세계 문화유산도 심각한 위험에 처했다"라며 "무어보다 인명 피해까지 커지고 있어 안타까운 마음을 금할 수 없다. 현재까지 안동시, 청송군, 영양군, 영덕군 등 4곳에서 십수 명의 사망자가 발생한 것으로 집계됐다. 유명을 달리한 분들의 명복을 빌며, 유족들께 깊은 위로를 전한다"고 말했다.
신 대변인은 또한 "국민의힘은 이번 산불로 하루아침에 삶의 터전과 소중한 가족을 잃은 분들을 보며 집권 여당으로서 무거운 책임을 느낀다"고 밝히며 "국민의 생명과 안전, 재산을 지키는 것이 국가의 기본 책무"라고 강조했다.
이어 "정부와 여당은 모든 대응 역량을 모아 시급히 산불을 진압하고 주민 피해를 최소화하기 위해 노력하겠다"며, "산불 대응 시스템을 재정비하고, 기후 변화에 맞춰 산불 예방 시스템을 고도화하며, 산림 정책을 정교하게 다듬어 재발과 확산을 방지할 근본 대책을 마련하겠다. 진화 장비와 인력을 확충하기 위한 예산 지원도 아끼지 않겠다"고 약속했다.
그러면서 "다시 한 번 희생자분들의 명복을 빌며, 어려운 상황 속에서도 밤낮없이 진화 작업에 매달리고 있는 소방관과 공무원들에게 감사와 위로의 말을 전한다"고 덧붙였다.
