충남 홍성군이 군민들이 안심하고 찾을 수 있는 위생적인 외식 환경을 조성하고, 불필요한 음식물 낭비를 줄이기 위해 모범음식점 25곳에 1,000개의 친환경 포장용기를 지원했다고 1일 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 모범음식점에 대한 인센티브를 제공함으로써 업소의 자긍심을 높이는 동시에, 플라스틱 사용을 줄이기 위한 친환경 정책의 일환으로 추진됐다.
군은 사전 수요조사를 거쳐 친환경 소재로 제작된 포장용기를 직접 배부했으며, 이를 통해 음식물 쓰레기 감소와 환경 보호에 대한 시민들의 관심을 유도할 계획이다.
홍성군 정영림 보건소장은 “친환경 포장용기 지원이 위생적인 외식 환경 조성에 기여할 뿐만 아니라, 친환경 외식 문화에 대한 군민들의 관심을 높이는 계기가 될 것”이라며, “앞으로도 위생 관리가 우수한 업소를 중심으로 다양한 지원을 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 이번 사업을 계기로 홍성군은 지속가능한 친환경 외식 문화 정착을 위한 다양한 정책 방안을 모색해 나갈 예정이다.
