최교진 세종시교육감이 4월 1일 세종시청 여민실에서 열린 '세종 직원 소통의 날' 행사에서 시청 공무원들을 대상으로 특강을 진행하며, 아이들의 행복한 성장을 위한 세종교육의 비전을 강조했다.
이번 특강은 교육청과 시청 간의 협력을 강화하기 위해 마련된 상호 교차 강의의 일환으로, 지난 3월에는 최민호 세종시장이 교육청 공무원들을 대상으로 강의를 진행한 바 있다.
최 교육감은 '아이들의 행복한 성장을 꿈꾸는 세종교육'이라는 주제로 강연을 진행하며, 세종의 아이들이 민주시민으로 성장할 수 있도록 교육해야 한다고 역설했다.
그는 “20대 시절, 교실이 모든 아이들의 천국이 되고 학교가 아이들의 궁전이 되기를 바라는 마음으로 교단에 섰다”며, 교육감으로서도 그 마음을 잊지 않고 있다고 밝혔다.
그는 “모두가 특별해지는 세종교육”을 목표로 설정하고, 모든 아이가 존중받으며 행복하게 성장할 수 있는 교육 환경을 조성하기 위해 노력하고 있다고 덧붙였다.
최 교육감은 2015년부터 혁신학교를 설립하고 학생 중심의 교육과정을 운영해 왔으며, 고교평준화 정책을 통해 학교 간 차별을 없애고 학교지원본부를 통해 교육활동 중심의 지원을 확대하고 있다고 설명했다.
또한, 그는 학생연합회, 청소년 아고라, 학생기자단 등 다양한 학생 자치활동을 통해 아이들이 민주시민으로 성장할 수 있도록 지원하고 있으며, 학습의 영역을 마을로 확장하여 학교와 지역이 함께 상생하는 교육도시를 만들기 위해 지속적으로 노력하고 있다고 강조했다.
