[브레이크뉴스=박찬호 기자] 진주경찰서는 2일 수사기관을 사칭한 보이스피싱 조직원의 전화에 속은 피해자로부터 6억 원 상당을 가로챈 보이스피싱 현금수거책을 검거·구속하고, 피해금 5억 원을 회수했다고 밝혔다.
중국 국적의 50대 피의자 A 씨는 지난달 7일 검사와 수사기관을 사칭한 보이스피싱 전화에 속은 피해자로부터 진주시 내 노상에서 1억 원 상당의 수표를 건네받아 가로챘다.
경찰은 신고 접수 즉시 CCTV 분석 등으로 피의자를 특정, 추적한 끝에 지난달 18일 서울 소재 모텔에 투숙해 있는 피의자를 발견하고 검거했다.
또한, 검거 현장을 수색하던 중 또 다른 피해자로부터 가로챈 5억 원(1억 원권 수표 5매)을 발견해 압수하고 피해자에게 돌려주었다.
한편 진주경찰은 보이스피싱을 근절하기 위해 지난 3월 17일부터 6월 30일까지 피싱범죄 집중단속 기간을 운영 중에 있다.
