3일 경주시에 따르면 이번 대회에는 국내외 마라톤 동호인 1만 5,130명이 참가 등록을 마쳐, 지난해보다 약 3,000명이 늘어난 참가 인원을 기록했다.
참가자는 국내 1만 4,216명, 해외 27개국에서 914명이 등록했다. 대회는 하프코스, 10㎞, 5㎞ 등 3개 부문으로 나뉘어 진행되며, 교통 혼잡을 고려해 지난해와 같이 풀코스는 운영되지 않는다. 참가자들은 경주의 대표적인 봄길인 보문호수와 시가지 구간을 달리며, 벚꽃이 만개한 풍경을 만끽할 예정이다.

안전 관리도 강화된다. 대회 당일에는 의료진 14명, 구급차 11대, 자전거 응급 순찰대, 경찰, 소방, 자원봉사자 등 총 800여 명이 주요 지점에 배치돼 코스 운영과 응급 상황에 대응한다.
