공단은 7일, 경북 지역을 포함한 울산·경남 등 방사선을 이용하는 중소기업을 대상으로 ▲방사선 안전점검 및 현장기술 지원 ▲운반용기 대여 및 운반 서비스 ▲방사선 측정 ▲방사성폐기물 발생·관리 교육 등 실질적인 기술 서비스를 제공한다고 밝혔다.
이번 지원은 공단이 보유한 전문 인력과 장비를 활용해 산불 피해로 어려움을 겪는 중소기업들이 안전하게 업무를 지속할 수 있도록 하기 위한 조치다.
이와 함께 공단은 임직원들의 자발적인 모금으로 조성된 사회공헌 기금 ‘러브펀드’ 1,000만 원을 대한적십자사 경북지사에 기부했다. 이 성금은 산불 이재민을 위한 생필품 지원과 의료·보건 지원 등에 사용될 예정이다.
조성돈 이사장은 “갑작스러운 산불로 피해를 입은 주민들이 하루빨리 안정을 되찾을 수 있기를 바란다”며 “앞으로도 공공기관으로서의 역할을 다하며 지역사회와 함께 위기를 극복해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
한국원자력환경공단은 방사성폐기물의 안전한 관리뿐만 아니라 사회공헌 활동을 꾸준히 이어가며 지역과의 상생에 앞장서고 있다.

Korea Radioactive Waste Agency (Chairman Cho Seong-don) has undertaken various support activities, including technical service support and donations, to help local communities suffering from wildfire damage.
On the 7th, the agency announced that it will provide practical technical services, including ▲radiation safety inspections and on-site technical support ▲transport container rental and transport services ▲radiation measurement ▲radioactive waste generation and management training, to small and medium-sized businesses using radiation in the Gyeongbuk region, including Ulsan and Gyeongnam.
This support is a measure to ensure that small and medium-sized businesses suffering from wildfire damage can continue their work safely by utilizing the agency’s professional manpower and equipment.
In addition, the agency donated 10 million won of the ‘Love Fund’, a social contribution fund voluntarily raised by employees, to the Gyeongbuk branch of the Korean Red Cross. This donation will be used to provide daily necessities and medical and health support for wildfire victims.
Chairman Cho Seong-don said, “I hope that the residents who suffered damage from the sudden wildfire can regain stability as soon as possible,” and added, “We will continue to fulfill our role as a public institution and overcome the crisis together with the local community.”
Korea Radioactive Waste Agency is leading the way in coexistence with the local community by continuously carrying out social contribution activities as well as safely managing radioactive waste.
