당진시(시장 오성환)는 최근 경북과 경남 지역에서 발생한 대형 산불로 피해를 입은 주민들을 지원하기 위해 1709만 원의 성금을 모금했다고 10일 밝혔다.
이번 성금은 공직사회가 사회적 책임을 실천하고 재난으로 어려움을 겪는 이웃들과의 고통을 나누기 위한 노력의 일환으로 마련됐다.
당진시 소속 공직자 약 1,500명은 지난 4월 2일부터 4월 4일까지 3일간 자발적으로 모금 운동에 참여해 총 1,709만 원을 모았다. 이 성금은 당진복지재단을 통해 전액 영남 지역의 산불 피해 복구와 이재민 구호 활동에 사용될 예정이다.
오성환 당진시장은 “전국적으로 어려움에 처한 이웃들을 돕기 위해 자발적으로 동참해 준 우리 공직자들에게 감사드린다”고 전했다. 그는 “작은 정성이 모여 큰 희망이 될 수 있다는 믿음으로, 피해 주민들이 하루빨리 일상으로 복귀할 수 있기를 진심으로 바란다”고 덧붙였다.
