오성환 당진시장이 지난 14일 ‘인구문제 인식개선 릴레이 캠페인’에 참여하며 지역사회의 인구 문제 해결을 위한 공감대 확산을 촉구했다.
이번 캠페인은 보건복지부와 한국보건복지인재원이 주관하여 ‘아이는 행복하고, 청년은 희망을 키우며, 노인은 보람 있는 대한민국이 되도록’이라는 슬로건 아래 진행된다.
저출생과 고령화 등 인구 문제에 대한 사회적 인식을 높이기 위해 전국적으로 릴레이 형식으로 펼쳐지는 이번 캠페인은 각 지역의 리더들이 참여하여 그 중요성을 알리고 있다.
오성환 시장은 지난 7일 이용록 홍성군수의 지목을 받아 캠페인에 참여하게 되었으며, 다음 참여자로 서영훈 당진시의회 의장과 이완섭 서산시장을 지목했다.

오성환 시장은 “우리는 발로 뛰는 행정을 통해 16조 원 규모의 투자유치, 인구 17만 명 돌파, 시 역대 최고 고용률 달성, 그리고 전국 시 단위 고용률 2위 등의 성과를 달성하며 발전하는 도시로 변화하고 있다”고 밝혔다.
