브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 안철수 국민의힘 대선 경선 후보는 18일 윤석열 전 대통령을 향해 "이제는 탈당 결단을 내리셔야 한다"고 촉구했다.
안철수 후보는 이날 자신의 페이스북을 통해 "당의 혁신과 대선 승리를 위해 윤 전 대통령의 탈당은 불가피하다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
안 후보는 "윤 전 대통령은 본인이 당의 미래에 어떤 영향을 미치고 있는지 직시해야 한다"며 "탄핵을 부정하는 후보들이 체제 전쟁에 몰두하면서 민생과 경제성장 의제는 이미 빼앗겼다"고 비판했다.
이어 "윤 전 대통령이 탈당해야만 정권 심판이 아닌 시대 교체로 프레임을 전환할 수 있다. 지금까지 결단을 기다렸다. 이제는 결단을 내리실 때"라고 강조했다.
그는 "탄핵된 전직 대통령의 탈당은 책임정치의 최소한"이라며 "대통령과 소속 정당은 제왕적 대통령제하에서 운명공동체다. 헌법재판소의 탄핵 결정은 최고 수준의 정치적 심판이고 윤 전 대통령 탈당은 정치적 공동책임을 진 정당이 재정비할 수 있는 출발점"이라고 주장했다.
또한 "역대 대통령들도 임기 중 당에 부담을 주지 않겠다는 이유로 탈당했다"면서 "하물며 탄핵된 전직 대통령에게 탈당은 국민과 당에 대한 최소한의 책임이다. 스스로 당을 떠나는 것이 우리 당 쇄신의 첫걸음"이라고 거듭 강조했다.
안철수 후보는 특히 "이대로면 대선은 필패"라며 "전직 대통령을 방어하는 정당은 국민의 신뢰를 얻을 수 없다. 탄핵의 강을 건너야만 당이 하나로 뭉칠 수 있고 승리의 가능성도 열린다"고 지적하기도 했다.
그러면서 "정권교체가 아닌 시대 교체, 분열이 아닌 통합만이 대한민국이 나아갈 방향이다. 지금 필요한 것은 책임 회피가 아니라 책임 이행"이라고 덧붙였다.
