당진시(시장 오성환)가 농촌공간정비사업에 박차를 가한다. 21일 당진시는 농림축산식품부로부터 신평면 거산지구 농촌공간정비사업 기본계획 승인을 공식적으로 받았다고 밝혔다.
농촌공간정비사업은 무분별한 축사 건축, 공장 설립, 신재생에너지 시설 등으로 인해 악화된 농촌 정주 환경을 개선하기 위한 사업이다.
이를 통해 지역 내 노후 축사 및 폐축사 등 정비 대상 시설을 철거하고, 농촌다움을 회복하는 한편 공간 재생과 경관 개선, 토지 활용도 향상을 목표로 한다.
당진시는 2023년 해당 사업 공모에 선정된 이후 5년간 총 180억 원의 예산을 투입해 2027년까지 사업을 추진할 계획이다.
주요 사업으로는 노후 축사 철거, 폐축사 정비뿐만 아니라 ‘청년 농촌이음플랫폼’ 등 문화 활동 공간 조성도 포함된다. 이를 통해 농촌의 주거환경을 개선하고, 주민들의 삶의 질을 높이겠다는 복안이다.
