충남 서산시가 지역 맞춤형 전문 기술 인재 양성을 위해 충청남도교육청을 비롯한 기업, 교육기관 등 12개 기관과 협력에 나섰다.
21일 베니키아호텔에서 이완섭 서산시장을 포함한 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 ‘2025 협약형 특성화고등학교 육성 업무 협약식’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약은 교육부가 주관하는 협약형 특성화고등학교 공모 신청을 위한 준비 과정으로, 지역 산업 맞춤형 인재 양성을 목적으로 한다. 협약형 특성화고등학교는 지자체, 지역 기업, 특성화고가 연합체를 구성해 지역 수요에 맞는 교육을 실현하는 새로운 형태의 고등학교다.
서산시는 이번 협약을 통해 석유화학 분야 청년 품질명장 육성과 청년들의 지역 정착, 양질의 취업 지원에 힘을 모은다. 특히 서산공업고등학교가 공모에 선정될 경우 2026년부터 2030년까지 5년간 총 5억 원을 지원할 계획이다. 이를 통해 실습실 및 학교 환경 개선, 교육과정 프로그램 운영 등 다양한 지원이 이루어진다.
협약에 참여한 기관은 서산시, 충청남도교육청, 서산공업고등학교, 한화토탈에너지스㈜, 에이치디현대오일뱅크㈜, 트라닉스㈜, 한서대학교, 신성대학교, 서산상공회의소 등 총 12개 기관이다.
이완섭 서산시장은 “이번 협약은 지역의 미래를 이끌 인재를 키우는 뜻깊은 출발점”이라며, “교육발전특구 사업과 연계해 특성화고 및 지역대학 맞춤형 교육을 강화하고, 청년들이 지역에서 꿈을 이루고 정착할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.
서산시는 이번 협약을 바탕으로 지역 산업과 교육이 긴밀히 협력하는 선도 모델을 구축, 지속 가능한 지역 발전과 청년 일자리 창출에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
