【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스 유아교육과와 동국대학교 부속유치원이 공동 주최한 '부처님과 함께하는 아이들이 행복한 세상 그리기 대회'가 지난 4월 24일 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 용맹로와 녹야원 일원에서 성황리에 개최됐다.

이번 행사는 부처님오신날과 어린이날을 기념해 “스스로를 등불로 삼고, 가르침을 등불로 삼아 나아가라”는 부처님의 말씀을 되새기며 유아와 가족이 함께하는 열린 불교문화 축제의 장으로 마련됐다.
행사는 유아교육과 학생 동아리의 공연과 사물놀이로 시작됐으며, 동국대 부속유치원 학부모들의 정성 어린 육법공양 봉헌으로 엄숙히 열렸다. 이어진 관불식에는 학교법인 동국대학교 이사장 운곡 돈관 스님, WISE캠퍼스 류완하 총장, 정각원장 법천 스님 등 주요 인사들과 함께 유아와 학부모가 참여해 부처님오신날의 의미를 기리는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다.
운곡 돈관 이사장은 치사를 통해 “아이들이 들려준 반야심경 진언이 가장 아름다웠다”며, “아이들이 그린 밝고 환한 세상 속에 부처님의 자비와 지혜가 우리 모두에게 스며들기를 바란다”고 전했다.
이날 행사에는 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 유아교육과 재학생과 교직원, 부속유치원 유아 및 학부모, 지역 영유아교육기관 관계자 등 약 900여 명이 참여했다. 유아들은 봄 햇살과 초록빛 자연 속에서 ‘행복한 세상’을 자유롭게 그리며, 자신 안의 등불을 발견하는 소중한 시간을 가졌다.
현장에는 버블쇼, 인형극, 페이스페인팅, 풍선아트, 단주·연꽃 만들기, 팔정도를 찾아라 게임, 그림으로 알아보는 나의 마음 등 다양한 체험 부스가 운영됐으며, 팝콘, 솜사탕, 슬러시 등 먹거리와 함께 에어바운스, 레일기차, 바이킹 등의 야외 놀이시설도 마련돼 가족 모두가 즐겁고 행복한 하루를 보냈다.
연꽃반 학부모 김진규 씨는 “아이와 함께한 소중한 시간이었고, 안전하고 의미 있는 경험이었다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
김은경 유아교육과 학과장은 “유아들의 따뜻한 마음이 피어나 부처님의 가르침을 삶 속에서 실천하는 시간이 되었기를 바란다”고 전했으며, 부속유치원 능견 스님은 “천진불성의 아이들과 함께 자비의 열린 마음으로 웃음 가득하고 안전한 하루를 보낼 수 있어 감사하다”고 말했다.
이번 대회는 유아 중심 교육과 불교 인성교육이 조화를 이루는 실천적 교육문화 모델을 제시하며, 대학과 지역, 교육 현장이 함께 살아 있는 교육 실천의 장으로 자리매김했다.

The ‘Drawing a World for Children with Buddha’ contest, jointly hosted by the Department of Early Childhood Education at Dongguk University WISE Campus and Dongguk University Kindergarten, was held successfully on April 24th at Yongmaeng-ro and Nokyawon on Dongguk University WISE Campus.
This event was prepared as an open Buddhist culture festival for children and families to commemorate Buddha’s Birthday and Children’s Day, recalling the Buddha’s words, “Make yourself a lamp and move forward with the teachings as a lamp.”
The event began with a performance by the Department of Early Childhood Education and student clubs and a Samulnori performance, and ended solemnly with the sincere offering of Yukbeop Gongyang by parents of Dongguk University Kindergarten. The following ceremony was attended by key figures such as Dongguk University Foundation Chairman of the Board of Trustees Monk Ungok Donkwan, WISE Campus President Ryu Wan-ha, and Jeonggakwon Director Monk Beopcheon, along with children and their parents, who had a meaningful time honoring the meaning of Buddha’s Birthday.
In his congratulatory remarks, Chairman Ungok Donkwan said, “The mantra of the Heart Sutra that the children recited was the most beautiful,” and “I hope that the compassion and wisdom of Buddha will permeate all of us in the bright and cheerful world that the children drew.”
About 900 people, including students and faculty members of the Dongguk University WISE Campus Department of Early Childhood Education, children and parents of the affiliated kindergarten, and officials from local early childhood education institutions, participated in the event. The children had a precious time freely drawing a ‘happy world’ in the spring sunshine and green nature, and discovering the light within themselves.
The site featured a variety of experience booths, including bubble shows, puppet shows, face painting, balloon art, making lotus flowers and danju, finding the eight-way path, and learning about my heart through pictures. In addition to popcorn, cotton candy, and slushies, there were also outdoor play facilities such as air bounce, rail trains, and Viking, allowing the whole family to have a fun and happy day.
Kim Jin-gyu, a parent of the lotus class, said, “It was a precious time with my child, and it was a safe and meaningful experience.”
Kim Eun-kyung, head of the Department of Early Childhood Education, said, “I hope that the children’s warm hearts will bloom and that it will be a time for them to practice the Buddha’s teachings in their lives.” Monk Neung-gyeon of the attached kindergarten said, “I am grateful that I was able to spend a day full of laughter and safety with the children of Cheonjinbulseong with an open heart of compassion.”
This competition presented a practical educational culture model that harmonizes early childhood-centered education and Buddhist character education, and established itself as a place for educational practice where universities, regions, and educational sites live together.
