국민의힘 최종 경선에 오른 김문수 후보가 당원투표 여론조사가 시작된 첫 날인 1일 세종시를 찾아 지역 공약을 발표하며 충청권 표심 공략에 나섰다.
첫 지역 방문지로 세종시를 선택한 김 후보는 맨 먼저 'KTX 세종역' 신설을 강조했다.
김 후보는 "세종시는 교통이 불편하다"면서 "전국 모든 사람들이 올 수 있도록 접근성이 좋아야 하는데 왜 이렇게 나쁘게 해놨을까 라는 생각이 든다 "고 말했다.

함께 배석한 장동혁 의원은 "국회의사당 세종으로 완전 이전을 후보님의 입장이기도 하지만 당의 공식 입장"이라며 "국회의사당, 대통령 집무실 이전은 헌법재판소 위헌 결정과 배치되지 않는 문제"라고 부연했다.
한편, 2일까지 진행되는 국민의힘 3차 경선은 당원 투표 50% 일반국민 50%로 합산하는 방식으로 대선 후보를 최종 결정하게 된다.
