[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 홍태용 김해시장은 2일 김해시청 소회의실에서 경남도와 2027년 글로벌도시 관광진흥기구(TPO) 총회 유치를 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
협약식에는 홍태용 김해시장을 비롯해 김명주 경남도 경제부지사, 김상원 경남도 관광개발국장, 최석철 김해문화관광재단 대표이사 등이 참석했다. 또 박영균 롯데호텔앤리조트 김해 총지배인과 정철진 아이스퀘어호텔 총지배인, 강선희 김해외국인근로자지원센터장 등 호텔 업계와 외국인 주민단체 등 30여 명이 함께했다.
협약식은 유관기관, 민간이 협업해 총회 유치의 성공 가능성을 높이기 위해 마련됐다. 이날 업무협약을 계기로 김해시와 경남도, 경남관광재단, 김해문화관광재단, 호텔, 지역 민간단체가 참여한 TPO 총회 유치추진단이 구성됐다.
추진단은 이달부터 총회 유치 확정 시까지 운영하며 협약식에서 참여 기관들은 각자의 역할을 명확히 하고 TPO 총회 유치를 위한 협력을 약속했다.
2027년 개최 예정인 제13차 TPO 총회 유치로 김해시는 국제적 도시 위상 제고와 마이스 산업과 지역경제 활성화, 20억 원 이상의 지역경제 파급효과를 기대하고 있다. 김해시는 가야문화 중심의 문화적 다양성과 첨단, 교통, 물류 등 우수한 국제적 인프라를 바탕으로 총회 유치를 추진한다.
김해시는 이달 광저우 국제관광전과 부산세계시민축제에 TPO 공동홍보부스와 사절단으로 참가해 유치 홍보 활동을 본격적으로 시작한다. 이어 10월에는 부산시와 TPO가 공동 주최하는 제1회 글로벌도시 관광서밋에 참가해 김해의 관광매력을 국내외 방문객에게 소개한다.
