브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 김문수 국민의힘 대선 후보는 6일 "당 지도부가 정당한 대선후보인 저를 강제로 끌어내리려고 시도하고 있다"며 유세 일정을 전면 중단하겠다고 밝혔다.
김문수 후보는 이날 오후 경북 경주시 APEC 준비 현장을 방문한 자리에서 "저는 국민의힘 후보로서 대선 승리를 위한 비전을 알리는 데 온 힘을 쏟았다. 단일화에 대한 일관된 의지도 분명하게 보여드렸고 지금도 단일화에 대해 한결같은 마음이다. 하지만 당이 대선 후보에 대한 지원을 계속 거부하고 있다"며 이같이 말했다.
그는 "(당 지도부가) 기습적으로 전국위원회와 전당대회도 소집했다"면서 "두 번씩이나 대통령을 지키지 못한 당에서 대선후보까지 끌어내리려 하고 있다. 이럴 것이면 왜 경선을 세 차례나 했나"라고 비판했다.
이어 "저는 대선 후보로서의 일정을 지금 시점부터 중단하겠다"라며 "서울로 올라가 제게 남은 여러 가지 현안 문제에 대해 깊이 대책을 마련하도록 하겠다"고 했다.
한편, 이날 권영세 위원장과 권성동 원내대표는 이날 오후 서울 여의도 국회에서 열린 의원총회 직후 단일화 일정을 협의하기 위해 김문수 후보의 대구 일정을 찾아가기로 했으나, 이날 김 후보의 보이콧에 따라 만남은 성사되지 못했다.
