브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 삼성전자는 ‘갤럭시 S25 엣지’ 전면 디스플레이에 코닝(Corning)의 신규 모바일용 글라스 세라믹인 ‘코닝® 고릴라® 글라스 세라믹 2(Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2)’를 적용했다고 9일 밝혔다.
코닝은 진보된 유리 기술을 기반으로 개발한 ‘고릴라 글라스 세라믹 2’를 통해 고릴라 글라스의 탁월한 내구성을 확장시켰고, 삼성은 공정 및 강화 기술을 적용해 이를 최적화하여 S25 엣지에 탑재했다.
이를 통해 역대 가장 얇은 갤럭시 S 시리즈인 S25 엣지에 견고함을 더했다.
‘고릴라 글라스 세라믹 2’는 주 재료인 유리에 결정(crystal)을 정교하게 포함시켜 제작됐다. 높은 광학적 투명성을 유지하면서도 유리와 결정 간 시너지로 글라스 세라믹의 개선된 강도를 제공하도록 설계됐다. 이온 교환 방식을 통해 디스플레이 커버의 내구성을 향상시켰다.
