이번 행사는 제1회 한울 상고문화제 프로그램의 일환으로 마련됐으며, 초등학생과 학부모 등 330여 명이 참여해 총 170개의 태양광 랜턴을 직접 제작했다. 완성된 랜턴은 아프리카 에너지 빈곤국에 전달될 예정이다.
행사에 참여한 한 학부모는 “평소에도 작은 기부를 실천해 왔지만, 아이가 친구들과 함께 기부의 의미를 배우고 실천할 수 있어 더욱 뜻깊었다”며, “직접 만든 랜턴이 아프리카에 전달된다는 사실에 아이도 매우 기뻐했다”고 소감을 전했다.
이세용 한울본부장은 “기부는 금전적 지원뿐 아니라 정성과 노력을 모아 의미 있는 활동에 참여하는 것 자체로도 충분히 가치 있는 일”이라며, “앞으로도 아이들이 나눔의 의미를 자연스럽게 배우고 실천할 수 있는 기회를 꾸준히 마련하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한울본부는 앞으로도 지역사회와 연계한 참여형 기부 프로그램을 통해 지속 가능한 사회공헌 활동을 이어갈 방침이다.
