브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 신동욱 국민의힘 선대위 대변인단장은 제21대 대통령 선거 당일인 3일 "이번 대선은 국가의 운명을 건 불의와의 싸움이라고 보고 있다"고 밝혔다.
신동욱 단장은 이날 SBS 김태현의 정치쇼에 출연해 "이번 대선은 대통령 파면으로 치러지는 선거이기도 하지만 상대방 후보의 독특한 이력이 국민들에게는 불의를 상징하는, 대한민국 정치사에서 아주 독특한 후보와의 싸움"이라며 이같이 말했다.
그는 "저희가 독재국가라는 표현을 많이 썼는데, 선거 중반전으로 가면서 많은 유권자들이 그걸 막아야 되겠다라는 말씀들을 해주셨다"면서 "저희 당도 그런 일들(계엄·탄핵 등)이 다시 반복되지 않게 다시 한번 성찰하고 반성한다. 정치가 전체적으로 다시 거듭나는 그런 계기가 되기를 바라고 있다"고 강조했다.
이어 그는 "이번 대선에서 저희가 이기고 지고를 떠나서 대선 이후의 상황도 생각하지 않을 수가 없다"며 "정말 많은 분들이 나보다는 당을 먼저 생각하는 선당후사의 정신으로 저는 선거에 임했다고 생각한다. 이런 것들이 대선 이후에도 저희 당이 다시 한번 또 도약할 수 있는 그런 계기가 되리라고 본다"고 말했다.
신 단장은 또한 "투표는 우리 민주주의 국가를 지탱하는 가장 기본적인 권리이자 의무"라며 "아직까지 투표 안 하신 분들이 계신다면 반드시 투표해서 많은 국민들의 의사가 반영되는 민주적 정당성을 갖춘 대통령을 우리 국민 여러분이 꼭 뽑아주시기를 당부드린다"고 전했다.
아울러 윤석열 전 대통령과의 관계에 대해선 "정리를 하고 가야 되는 문제"라며 "대통령의 탄핵과정에서 벌어졌던 공수처(고위공직자범죄수사처)의 불법수사 문제, 부당한 영장쇼핑 등의 부분에 대해 저희가 당시 저항했던 것이 잘못됐다고 생각하진 않는다. 결과적으로 탄핵이 됐으니까 그동안 저희 당원들이나 국회의원들이 한 그런 행동들이 다 잘못됐다고 할 수는 없는 것"이라고 말했다.
