이재명 대통령 내외가 6일 오전 서울 동작구 국립서울현충원에서 열린 제70주년 현충일 추념식에 참석했다고 대통령실이 전했다.
대통령실은 이날 이 대통령 참석 배경 관련해 "국가·국민을 지키기 위해 희생하고 헌신한 순국선열·호국영령을 추모하고, 그 숭고한 정신을 계승해 국민통합을 이루기 위한 것"이라고 전했다.
이날 추념식엔 국가유공자와 지난달 해군 해상초계기 추락 사고로 순직한 고 박진우 중령·고 이태훈 소령·고 윤동규 상사·고 강신원 상사 유족들과 지난해 12월 서귀포 감귤창고 화재 현장에서 순직한 고 임성철 소방장 유족들과 정부 주요 인사·각계 대표·시민 등이 참석했다.
