[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시는 6일 오전 9시 50분 김해 충혼탑에서 순국선열과 호국영령의 숭고한 희생정신을 기리는 ‘제70회 현충일 추념식’을 거행했다.

추념식은 ‘당신이 이어준 오늘, 우리가 이어갈 내일’이라는 슬로건으로 국민의례, 순국선열과 호국영령에 대한 묵념, 조총수 발사, 헌화 및 분향, 추념사, 헌시낭독, 현충일 노래 제창 순으로 진행됐다.

전몰군경유족인 최경화씨가 헌시를 낭독했으며 청소년교향악단연주에 맞춰 시립합창단이 현충일 노래를 제창하며 나라를 위해 희생한 장병과 순국선열을 애도했다. 

홍태용 시장은 추념사에서 “나라를 지키는 것이 영웅들의 사명이었다면 남겨진 가족을 보살피는 것은 국가의 책무이자 국민의 의무”라며 “앞으로 국가유공자와 보훈가족들이 더 존경받고 예우받는 사회가 되도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다. 

그러면서 “김해 보훈단체 활동을 적극 뒷받침하고 관내 13개 현충시설을 정성껏 관리해 호국영령의 넋을 기리는 데 소홀함이 없도록 하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
