이날 행사에는 서태원 군수를 비롯해 김경수 가평군의회 의장과 의원, 임광현 경기도의원, 국가유공자 및 유족, 보훈단체 관계자, 각급 기관단체장, 66사단 장병, 지역주민과 학생 등 250여 명이 참석했다. 이들은 추념행사에서 나라를 위해 헌신한순국선열과 호국영령의 넋을 기리고 숭고한 희생정신을 되새겼다.

서태원 군수는 추념사에서 “지금 우리가 누리는 자유와 번영은 순국선열과 호국영령들의 피와 눈물이 만들어낸 값진 결실”이라며 “이들의 희생정신을 바탕으로 가평을 넘어 대한민국의 발전을 이끌어 자손만대가 자유와 평화를 누릴 수 있도록 함께 노력하자”고 말했다.
