월성원자력본부, 바다의 날 맞아 ‘비치코밍’ 봉사활동 전개

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국수력원자력 월성원자력본부(본부장 정원호)는 지난 6월 11일, 제30회 바다의 날을 기념해 경주시 감포읍 오류2리 고아라해변 일대에서 비치코밍(Beachcombing) 봉사활동을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 봉사에는 월성본부 직원을 비롯해 포항해양경찰서, 경주시청 해양수산과, 원전현장인력양성원 교육생 및 직원 등 100여 명이 참여, 지역 유관기관이 함께 바다환경 보호와 지역 상생의 뜻을 나눴다.

‘비치코밍’은 바다를 뜻하는 ‘비치(beach)’와 빗질하다의 ‘코밍(combing)’을 결합한 단어로, 해변을 따라 떠밀려온 쓰레기나 표류물을 수거하는 환경정화 활동을 의미한다.

김춘식 월성본부 지역협력부장은 “원자력 발전은 해수를 활용해 에너지를 생산하는 만큼, 바다와 불가분의 관계에 있다”며, “안전한 원전 운영뿐 아니라 깨끗한 바다를 지키는 활동에도 지속적으로 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.

이인식 원전현장인력양성원장도 “바다를 지키는 뜻깊은 자리에 함께할 수 있어 영광이었다”며, “지역과 함께하는 사회적 책임을 다하는 데 동참하게 되어 보람된 시간이었다”고 소감을 전했다.

월성본부는 앞으로도 ESG 경영 실천의 일환으로, 지역사회와 협력한 해양 환경 보호 활동을 꾸준히 이어가며, 우리 삶의 터전인 깨끗한 해변 조성에 앞장설 방침이다.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Headquarters (Director Won-ho Jeong) announced that it held a beachcombing volunteer activity on June 11th in the Goara Beach area of ​​Oryu 2-ri, Gampo-eup, Gyeongju-si to commemorate the 30th Marine Day.

About 100 people, including Wolseong Headquarters staff, Pohang Marine Police Station, Gyeongju City Hall Marine and Fisheries Division, and trainees and staff from the Nuclear Power Plant Field Personnel Training Center, participated in this volunteer activity, sharing the spirit of protecting the marine environment and regional coexistence with local related organizations.
