국립금오공과대학교(총장 김상호)는 최근 ‘2026 경북 구미 강소연구개발특구 통합사업설명회’를 열고 기업 성장 지원 방안과 유관기관 협력사업을 공유했다고 밝혔다.
국립금오공대 강소특구육성사업단은 스타트업과 예비창업자를 대상으로 릴레이 방식의 설명회를 진행했다. 설명회는 지난 4월 7일과 14일, 16일 교내를 비롯해 금오테크노밸리, 구미전자정보기술원 등에서 열렸으며, 구미 강소특구 유관기관과 기업협의체, 스타트업, 예비창업자 등 총 200여 명이 참석했다.
이번 설명회에서는 강소특구육성사업을 비롯해 ▲경북서부지식재산센터의 지식재산 창출 지원사업 ▲한국디자인진흥원의 수요맞춤형 디자인 개발 ▲국립금오공대 라이즈사업단의 기업 참여사업 ▲경북창조경제혁신센터의 창업 지원사업 등 다양한 프로그램이 소개됐다.
아울러 기업 혁신 성장을 지원하기 위한 네트워크 프로그램과 1대1 맞춤형 상담도 함께 진행돼 참가 기업들로부터 호응을 얻었다.
주요 사업 가운데 ‘강소연구개발특구 기업육성 지원사업’은 시제품 제작, 대기업 실증, 컨설팅 등을 지원하는 사업으로, 오는 5월 8일까지 구미 강소특구 홈페이지를 통해 참여 기업을 모집한다.
권오형 국립금오공대 강소특구육성사업단장은 “연속적인 설명회를 통해 특구 내 기업들이 기술사업화에 대한 이해를 넘어 실제 성과로 이어지길 기대한다”며 “앞으로도 2단계 사업을 중심으로 기업 맞춤형 지원을 강화해 지역 기업들이 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있도록 적극 뒷받침하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 국립금오공과대학교는 2020년 과학기술정보통신부가 지정한 경북 구미 강소연구개발특구의 기술핵심기관으로 선정됐다. 이후 5년간 구미 특화형 제조혁신 생태계 구축에 힘써왔으며, 올해부터 향후 5년간 강소특구 2단계 사업을 본격 추진하고 있다.

Kumoh National Institute of Technology has set out to revitalize the local industrial ecosystem by introducing customized support programs to companies and prospective entrepreneurs within the Gumi Small-Scale R&D Special Zone in North Gyeongsang Province.
Kumoh National Institute of Technology (President Kim Sang-ho) announced that it recently held the ‘2026 Gumi Small-Scale R&D Special Zone Integrated Project Briefing’ to share support measures for corporate growth and cooperative projects with related organizations.
The Kumoh National Institute of Technology’s Small-Scale Special Zone Development Project Team conducted a series of briefing sessions targeting startups and prospective entrepreneurs. The sessions were held on April 7, 14, and 16 at locations including the campus, Kumoh Techno Valley, and the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Institute. A total of approximately 200 people attended, including representatives from related organizations within the Gumi Small-Scale Special Zone, corporate councils, startups, and prospective entrepreneurs.
At this briefing session, various programs were introduced, including the Small-Scale R&D Special Zone Development Project, as well as the Intellectual Property Creation Support Project by the Western Gyeongbuk Intellectual Property Center, Demand-Tailored Design Development by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, Corporate Participation Projects by the Kumoh National University of Technology RISE Project Group, and Startup Support Projects by the Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center.
In addition, networking programs and one-on-one customized consultations designed to support corporate innovative growth were held, receiving a positive response from participating companies.
Among the major projects, the "Small-Scale R&D Special Zone Enterprise Development Support Project" provides support for prototype production, large-scale demonstrations, and consulting; applications for participating companies are currently being accepted through the Gumi Small-Scale R&D Special Zone website until May 8.
Kwon Oh-hyung, Head of the Small-Scale R&D Special Zone Development Project Group at Kumoh National University of Technology, stated, "Through these consecutive briefing sessions, we hope that companies within the special zone will move beyond simply understanding technology commercialization to achieving tangible results." He added, "We will continue to strengthen customized support for companies, focusing on Phase 2 projects, to actively back local enterprises in securing their competitiveness."
Meanwhile, Kumoh National Institute of Technology was selected as the core technology institution for the Gumi Small-Scale R&D Special Zone in North Gyeongsang Province, designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2020. Since then, it has been working to build a manufacturing innovation ecosystem specialized for Gumi for the past five years, and starting this year, it is actively pursuing the second phase of the Special Zone project for the next five years.
