【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=국민의힘 포항시장 선거 경선에서 탈락한 박대기 전 예비후보가 박용선 후보 지지를 공식 선언했다.
박대기 전 예비후보는 21일 오후 박용선 선거사무소를 방문해 지지 의사를 밝히고, 박용선 후보 선거대책위원회 공동선대위원장을 맡기로 했다.
박 전 예비후보는 “지금 포항은 위기를 넘어야 할 중대한 기로에 서 있다”며 “현장을 가장 잘 알고 경상북도와 중앙정부, 포스코를 하나로 묶어낼 수 있는 강력한 실행력을 가진 리더가 필요하다”고 말했다. 이어 “박용선 후보는 3선 도의원과 경북도의회 부의장을 지내며 정무 감각과 행정 능력을 검증받은 인물”이라며 “포항 발전과 보수진영 승리를 이끌 적임자라고 판단해 지지를 결심했다”고 밝혔다.
박용선 후보는 “포항 발전을 위해 큰 결단을 내려준 데 대해 경의를 표한다”며 “정치적 열정과 진정성을 바탕으로 반드시 승리하겠다”고 말했다. 또 “박 전 예비후보의 정책 비전을 공약에 반영해 시민이 체감할 수 있는 변화를 만들겠다”고 덧붙였다.
이번 지지 선언으로 박용선 후보 선대위는 세를 확장하게 됐다. 앞서 공원식 전 경북정무부지사, 김순견 전 경북경제부지사, 이칠구 전 포항시의회 의장 등이 합류한 데 이어 박 전 예비후보까지 가세했다.
박용선 후보는 “대통합 선대위가 더욱 힘을 받을 것”이라며 “민심을 하나로 모아 화합하는 포항을 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 박 전 예비후보 합류 이후 박용선 후보 선대위 공동선대위원장에는 공원식, 김성일, 김순견, 김재술, 박대기, 이재용(한동대), 이정호, 이칠구, 장경식 등이 이름을 올렸다.
