이재명 대통령이 16일 취임 후 첫 G7(주요 7개국) 정상회의 참석차 1박 3일(현지시간 15~17일) 일정으로 출국한다고 대통령실이 15일 전했다.
위성락 안보실장은 이날 오전 용산 대통령실 브리핑에서 "이 대통령은 G7 정상회의서 확대정상회의 세션에 참석한다"며 "세션 참석 전후로 G7 회원국 포함 주요국 정상들과 양자회담을 가질 예정"이라고 전했다.
그러면서 "다자회의 유동적 특성상 세부 조율이 계속되고 있고, 정상 회담 국가 명단을 이 자리서 말하긴 어렵다"고 했다.
대통령실 관계자는 '정상 회담 조율을 진행 중인 국가는 어디냐'란 질의엔 "미·일 등도 포함돼 있으며 서로 협의하고 있고, 긍정적 접근을 보이고 있다"면서도 "다자회의는 변동성이 크기에 확정되면 추가적으로 말할 것"이라고 했다.
G7은 미국·영국·독일·프랑스·이탈리아·일본·캐나다 등 자유주의 국제질서를 이끄는 서방 중심 선진국 7개국 모임으로 이 대통령은 캐나다 총리 초청으로 G7 정상회의 참관국(옵서버) 자격 하에 참석한다.
