15일 국가안보실 제1차장 김현종·제2차장 임웅순·제3차장 오현주·AI수석 하정우 네이버클라우드 AI 혁신센터장이 등이 임명됐다.
강훈식 대통령 비서실장은 이날 오후 용산 대통령실 브리핑에서 이 같은 인선 내용을 전했다.
강 비서실장은 이와 관련해 "군 정책 분야에 경험 풍부한 인물"이라며 "대한민국 안보 역량 강화는 물론 군 개혁을 이끌 적임자"라고 소개했다.
안보실 제2차장엔 임웅순 주캐나다 대사가 발탁됐다. 강 비서실장은 "풍부한 외교 경험을 갖춘 인사로, 외교협상 중요성이 커지는 상황서 국익 중심 실용 외교를 관철할 것"이라고 소개했다.
국가안보실 제3차장 경우 오현주 외교부 주교황청대한민국대사관 특명전권대사가 임명됐다. 강 비서실장은 "최초 여성 주교황청대사로 세계 각국이 경제안보 분야에서 경쟁하는 가운데 국익 극대화를 위한 전략 수립에 나설 것"이라고 전했다.
강 비서실장은 "(이 대통령은 안보실 인사 관련해) G7(주요 7개국) 정상회의 계기로 대한민국 민주주의·정상외교·경제통상협상 복원이 시작됐다는 평가를 했다"고 전했다.
이번에 신설된 정책실장 산하 AI미래기획수석 경우 하정우 네이버클라우드 AI 혁신센터장이 발탁됐다. 강 비서실장은 "혁신센터장으로서 겪은 현장 경험이 국가 AI 정책으로 구현되길 기대한다"며 "(이 대통령은) AI 3대 강국 진입이란 목표를 재차 강조하며 '현장을 가장 잘 아는 민간 전문가에게 권한·책임을 맡겨 AI 국가 경쟁력을 빠르게 향상해야 한다고 언급했다"고 전했다.
한편 강 비서실장은 '대통령 G7 출장으로 비상경제점검 태스크포스(TF) 활동 등이 차질을 빚는 게 아니냐'는 질의에 "이 대통령 스타일상 해외서도 다 챙겨보게 될 것이며 추경· 안전 문제 등에 대해 실시간 소통하고 있다"고 밝혔다.
