브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 삼성전자가 미래 과학인재 육성을 위한 후원에 나선다.
삼성전자는 26일 13시 30분 서울 강남구에 위치한 한국과학기술회관에서 한국과학창의재단 및 대한수학회, 한국물리학회와 함께 국제 올림피아드 한국대표단 육성을 위한 국제수학·물리올림피아드 한국대표단 후원협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이날 협약식에는 삼성전자 DX부문 피플팀장 조시정 부사장, DS부문 피플팀장 최완우 부사장, 한국과학창의재단 정우성 이사장, 대한수학회 곽시종 회장, 한국물리학회 윤진희 회장 등이 참석했다.
국제수학·물리올림피아드는 매년 전세계 고등학생들이 한자리에 모여 고난도 문제를 풀며 실력을 겨루는 국제 대회다.
한국대표단은 국제수학올림피아드에 1988년, 국제물리올림피아드에는 1992년부터 출전하고 있으며, 매년 우수한 성적을 거두고 있다.
삼성전자는 기초 과학의 중요성에 대한 사회적 인식을 높이고, 미래 과학인재 양성에 기여하기 위해 올림피아드 후원을 결정했다.
올림피아드 한국대표단의 △선발 △교육 △대회 참가를 지원할 예정이며, 대회 수상자에게는 별도의 장학금도 전달할 계획이다.

The International Mathematics and Physics Olympiad is an international competition where high school students from around the world gather every year to compete by solving difficult problems.
The Korean delegation has been participating in the International Mathematics Olympiad since 1988 and the International Physics Olympiad since 1992, and has achieved excellent results every year.
