【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 총동창회는 지난 6월 26일 오후 3시, 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 백주년기념관 5층 세미나실에서 ‘2025학년도 동국장학회 장학금 수여식’을 개최하고, 우수 학생 24명에게 총 2,400만 원의 장학금을 전달했다.

이날 수여식에는 문선배 동국대학교 총동창회장을 비롯해 류완하 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 총장, 해운 스님(동국장학회 이사), 최덕규 총동창회 직할경주동창회장 등 동문과 교내 관계자들이 참석해 장학생들을 축하하고 격려했다.
동국장학회는 동국대 총동창회 산하 재단법인으로, 1995년 2월 설립돼 학생과 교직원을 대상으로 장학금과 연구비 등을 지원하며 국가와 사회에 이바지할 수 있는 인재 양성을 목표로 하고 있다.
이번 장학금은 가정 형편이 어려운 가운데에서도 우수한 학업 성취를 이룬 학생 24명에게 1인당 100만 원씩 수여되었으며, 학생들에게는 선배 동문들의 따뜻한 격려와 함께 미래를 향한 희망의 메시지도 전해졌다.
문선배 총동창회장은 축사를 통해 “119년 전통을 지닌 동국대학교의 장학생으로 선발된 것을 진심으로 축하한다”며 “여러분이 미래 동국의 주역이자 사회의 리더로 성장하길 바라며, 모교 사랑과 후배 사랑을 이어가는 영원한 동국인이 되어 달라”고 당부했다.
해운 스님은 “여러분 모두가 훌륭한 인재로 성장해 다시 후배들에게 장학금을 전달할 수 있는 선순환의 주체가 되길 기대한다”고 격려했고, 류완하 총장은 “이 장학금은 선배들이 후배들을 위해 정성을 모은 것”이라며 “이를 기억하고 사회에 기여하는 훌륭한 인재로 성장해주길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
