브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT는 ‘2025년 KT ESG보고서’를 발간했다고 1일 밝혔다.
올해로 20번째 발간을 맞은 이번 보고서는 ‘AICT Company’로 도약 중인 KT의 비전과 핵심가치를 바탕으로, 환경·사회·지배구조(ESG) 전 영역의 지속가능경영 전략과 주요 성과를 체계적으로 담았다.
KT는 2006년부터 매년 ESG보고서를 발간해오고 있다. 이번 보고서는 국제 지속가능경영보고 기준인 GRI Standards 2021을 준수하고, 유엔글로벌콤팩트(UNGC), ISO 26000, SASB, TCFD 등 글로벌 가이드라인을 폭넓게 적용했다.
특히, ‘이중 중대성 평가(Double Materiality)’ 가이드라인을 적용해 △AICT 본업의 혁신 성장 △기후변화 대응(탄소중립) △서비스 품질 및 책임(네트워크 안정성) △공정거래 및 법규 준수 등 4대 핵심 이슈를 선정했다.
‘이중 중대성 평가’는 ESG 이슈가 기업 재무성과에 미치는 영향뿐 아니라, 기업 활동이 사회와 환경에 미치는 영향까지 함께 고려하는 방식으로, KT는 이를 통해 ESG 전략의 방향성과 이행 우선순위를 명확히 설정했다.
KT는 환경(E), 사회(S), 지배구조(G) 각 영역별로 보유한 AICT 기술과 인프라를 접목해 ESG 전략을 수립하고, 실행 결과를 정리해 보고서에 담았다.
환경(E) 챕터에서는 2050년까지 넷제로(Net Zero) 달성을 목표로, 네트워크 최적화를 통한 전력 절감과 PPA(전력구매계약) 체결을 통한 재생에너지 전환 전략을 소개했다. 생태계 보호를 위한 생물다양성 보전 활동도 병행하고 있다.
사회(S) 챕터에서는 정보보호 체계 고도화와 AI 기반 네트워크 안정화 전략을 중심으로, 서비스 신뢰 제고를 위한 기술 기반 노력을 소개했다. 포용사회 구현을 위한 ‘따뜻한 동행’ 활동뿐 아니라, 임직원 생애주기별 맞춤 복지와 일·가정 양립을 위한 ‘하이베이비TF’ 운영 사례도 포함했다.
지배구조(G) 챕터에서는 컴플라이언스 체계 정비와 부패방지 활동, 공정거래 법규 준수 강화 등의 노력을 담았다. 사외이사 중심의 이사회 운영으로 거버넌스 독립성과 책임성을 강화하고 있으며, 분기배당을 포함한 주주환원 정책도 지속 추진 중이다.
한편, KT는 이번 보고서 발간을 계기로 ESG 정보의 사내 활용도를 높이기 위해, 임직원 전용 AI 기반 질의응답 시스템 ‘ESG AI 에이전트’를 새롭게 도입한다. 이 시스템은 보고서 내 주요 내용을 기반으로 실시간 질의응답이 가능해, ESG 정보 접근성과 실무 활용도를 한층 끌어올릴 것으로 기대된다.
KT는 앞으로도 ESG보고서를 통해 지속가능경영 성과를 투명하게 공개하고, AICT 기술 역량을 기반으로 ESG 실행력을 더욱 고도화해 나갈 방침이다.
